DOVER — The Pirates baseball team lost 7-4 to the Ozark Hillbillies on Tuesday at J.P. Lovelady Park in nine innings.
Dover led 1-0 after the first inning, but Ozark scored one in the second and two in the third. The Pirates scored two in the fifth to tie the score and eventually forced extra innings, but the Hillbillies outscored Dover 4-1 in the final two frames to get the win.
Ozark took a 1-run lead in the top of the eighth, but Kaleb Williams tied the score with a single to force a ninth inning.
The Hillbillies went on to score three more runs, and Dover couldn’t answer.
Dawson Branch was the losing pitcher. He went two innings, allowed four runs and one hit and struck out two.
Landon O’Bryant started for the Pirates. He surrendered three runs on eight hits over seven innings. He struck out seven.
