Softball Pirates Season Ends with a 4-1 Loss to Dardanelle

OZARK — The Dardanelle Lady Sand Lizards punched their ticket to the regional tournament on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over the Dover Lady Pirates in the first round of the 4A-4 District Tournament.

Dover scored its only run in the first inning as Dardanelle added all four of theirs in the sixth.

Dover’s Rylie Wheeler hit a solo home run in the first to put Dover up 1-0. The Lady Pirates threatened with runners on first and second in the top of the third, but a line drive to shortstop Jorika Alverez turned a double play to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, the Lady Pirates again advanced runners to second and third, but a sliding catch at center field drew the final out.

In the sixth inning, Weber singled to lead off the inning. After stealing second, Weber was driven home by an RBI double by Abi Adams. Shelby Kelly advanced to second and Adams moved to third on an error. Darby Brown drove in Adams on an error to get the go-ahead run. Taylor Lawrence bunted to score Kelly for the third run, and Morgan Parsons pushed in the final run on a bases-loaded walk.

Britney Kirk was the winning pitcher. She pitched a complete game, gave up four hits and struck out six. She gave up one run.
