DOVER -- The Dover Pirates swept the Subiaco Academy Trojans in a doubleheader on Tuesday at J.P. Lovelady Park.
Dover beat Subiaco 7-0 in the first game and 11-1 in the second game.
Pirates head coach Wes McCrotty has been saying things could turn around for his team with just a few adjustments. McCrotty said it needs to continue.
"We are in the final stretch of the season heading into the tournament," he said. "We need to continue to work hard, play hard and see how these next two weeks play out. Overall, we did an excellent job of competing and grinding out our two wins. Our pitchers attacked the strike zone and made some quality pitches with two strikes."
In the first game, Dover scored all its runs in the final three innings.
Landon O'Bryant started the game. He surrendered no runs on one hit over three innings and struck out six.
In the second game, the Pirates scored three in the first, one in the second and seven in the fourth.
Dawson Branch was the winning pitcher. He lasted five innings, allowed two hits and one run. He struck out 10.
Dover travels to Russellville today.
